Unfortunate events

The oily and tasty Beijing food is definitely not doing my tummy any good- the zip on my black work pants will only zip up halfway now. About time I got my act together! So yesterday, I put on my exercising gear, otherwise also known as my contraceptive outfit, and trooped down to Wangfujing to buy [...]

Living with Pauline

Dearest Pauline,
Note that my hair is longer and curlier. Hence it is also more visible than the soft fine EVIL strands of hair which build up near the place you blow your hair every morning. I seek your understanding as you yourself have seen what my hair looks like in the morning (massive) – I [...]

One night in Beijing (wo liu xia xu duo qing!)

Sorry for the lack of activity on Hochoy, dear valued readers! We haven’t been able to update as much as we’d like to because publiHA has decided to secure his/her network. If you recall, publiHA is the neighbor (we’vet yet to meet him/her) whose network we were tapping into at the start. You guys can rest [...]

Jump for forbidden city!!

On Sunday, Pau-er and I decided to go visit GuGong (故宫)otherwise known as the Forbidden City. Before you get anywhere you have to go through the Tiananmen gate which is really cool cause there’s a big groovy portrait of ZEE MAO. Of COURSE we wanted a picture.

 Paus hearts Maos

After the first gate you get [...]

Orchard Rds of Beijing

Seldom will Beijing be referred to as a shopper’s paradise. The places that are better known for their shopping are the usuals like Bangkok, Hongkong and Shanghai. I’m pleased to say that my shopping experience has been satisfactory thus far! On the other hand, pollution here is kinda bad especially since it’s warming up.

Check the Sartorialist like [...]

Living with Lauren

 Dear Lauren,

Please remember to do something about your hair on the bathroom floor. It’s long and curly so I’m 100% sure they came from your head; I will do my part and pick up the shorter and thinner hair that I spot on the floor in the mean time!

You are truly one of the most paranoid persons [...]

Working daze

Day 2 of work. Work is awfully tiring. It’s not tiring in the fulfilling way where you know you’ve accomplished something during work and you’re of at least a little use to the company. Rather, it’s tiring in the OMG-I-HAVE-NO-WORK-TO-DO-AND-I-NEED-TO-LOOK-BUSY way but I believe at this point, I have thickened my skin significantly so I have no qualms [...]

Why pig out when you can Duck out?

When we signed up for the whole “Summer Internship in Beijing” thing, we actually expected it to be, you know, summer. May is supposed to be flowers, light and airy dresses, the last breath of spring rain before the hot summer months. What we didn’t expect was temperatures below 10 degrees.

Oh the weather outside is [...]
