Working daze

Day 2 of work. Work is awfully tiring. It’s not tiring in the fulfilling way where you know you’ve accomplished something during work and you’re of at least a little use to the company. Rather, it’s tiring in the OMG-I-HAVE-NO-WORK-TO-DO-AND-I-NEED-TO-LOOK-BUSY way but I believe at this point, I have thickened my skin significantly so I have no qualms with surfing the net openly. Still, it’s not a good feeling to be surfing the net while your colleagues are busy working (for real, and not acted out like what we interns are fantastic at).

So when we don’t respond on MSN, you know what we’re doing…

Sleep…

Sleep…

and more sleep

This last position of sleeping is a bit more special. It’s been invented by Amanda during our secondary school days which up to this day, I still find it very ingenious albeit in the retarded way. Basically what you do is you drop anything – best if it’s a pencil case and you spill all its contents – and as you bend down to pick them up, you take the chance to steal a quick nap! Cute right?? Credits to Amanda please!

I hear some of you asking about werrrrk. Our workplace is pretty near HIH! So, lucky for us, it takes about 15 to 30 mins to walk to work. You guys must be wondering why it’s such a wide range right? Because I (VERY STUPIDLY) wore my office heels to walk and the walk there felt like at least half an hour. Lauren, the smarty panties, was clever enough to wear slippers to walk in. But of course, there’s a trade-off – she was attracting stares from people of all ages. Kid you guys not! Granted. Pantyhose + slippers is really quite funny hahaha.

Check the cyclist checking Lauren out

Both of us got smart today: Lauren wore shoes instead of slippers, while I wore my icky flats to walk. It took less than 15 minutes!

Most people give off the Ugh, China vibes when I say I’m in Beijing. But I’m loving Beijing so far! If you’re able to hold your bladder well and avoid using public toilets, and get used to people spitting – what’s not to love about Beijing?! Seriously, I think the hutongs are every photographers wet dream (Shaun, you’d love it here). Rollei’s always on standby.

This is the part where I guesstimate my focus and bark at my subjects to tell me how far they are from me. Nowadays it’s just Lauren who gets barked at. Heehee

The walks home from WangFuJing, the Orchard Rd of Beijing, are filled with sights ranging from Lambhorgini displays, 5 star hotels to beautifully rundown hutongs.

Okay finally, the food here is CRAZY. You gotta love Beijing for their omnipresent delicious&cheap eateries (not sure about hygiene wise though). There hasn’t been a meal that cost us more than SGD 5 bucks yet! Singapore foodcourts ought to be ashamed of themselves!

Hong shao beef noodles 红烧牛肉面 for 10 yuan (SGD$2)

Dumplings! 10 yuan each again! Plus free flow of soup! Quite atas somemore
